Essential Oils of Lemon and Orange

Cooking with essential oils

A few drops of oil are enough to flavor and enrich your sweet and savory preparations. Try to prepare a custard by adding a few drops of Lemon essential oil and you will be surprised by the richness of the taste. Or prepare a sauce to dress a roasted fish, with extra virgin olive oil and parsley.
Orange oil lends itself to the preparation of excellent cakes or, for an original solution, to liven up a tomato salad.

The beneficial propertie of essential oils

The lemon essence, in addition to being intensely and pleasantly scented, has numerous antibacterial and antiviral properties that make it an excellent ally against coughs, colds and flu states but also to purify environments.
Lemon essential oil has digestive and carminative properties useful in case of difficult digestion, nausea and abdominal swelling.
It is taken by adding one or two drops to a teaspoon of honey or a sugar cube to aid digestion and fight abdominal swelling.

For external use, lemon essential oil must be used diluted. It is possible to disperse a drop of essential oil in a teaspoon of Aloe vera gel: the aloe gel enriched with lemon essential oil is useful for strengthening the capillaries if you suffer from couperose and is an effective natural remedy in case of oily skin and impurity.
Lemon essential oil can be used after diluting a few drops in sweet almond, sunflower or olive oil (about 10 drops of lemon essential oil for each tablespoon of vegetable oil) to massage the legs and buttocks useful for promote circulation, prevent the appearance of capillaries and improve water retention and cellulite.
Massage oil with olive oil and lemon essential oil is also excellent for the hands and feet as it strengthens brittle nails and soothes the pain and discomfort caused by chilblains.

Aid to ecology

Finally, lemon essential oil is a natural ingredient that can be used for the preparation of ecological detergents: by adding 20-30 drops of lemon essence to each glass of alcohol or white wine vinegar, a antibacterial and perfumed detergent effective for cleaning ceramic floors, sanitary ware and taps.

The external and internal use of lemon essential oil is not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding and obviously in the case of ascertained sensitivity to the substances contained therein.
